Dick Brandewie

Chairman of the Board

Managing Partner - Ballast Point Ventures
Prior to co-founding Ballast Point Ventures in 2001, Dick was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Quality Distribution, Inc. (QDI) and its predecessor firm, MTL Inc., a transportation logistics business. Dick helped build MTL from $138 million to $571 million in revenue over eight years.

Dick was a General Partner with South Atlantic Venture Funds I and II from 1985 to 1992, where he helped develop South Atlantic's successful regional investment focus and participated in numerous venture capital investments across a diverse group of industries, with a particular emphasis on the health care and life science segments. Prior to joining South Atlantic, Dick was a General Partner with MBW Venture Partners and Michigan Investment Fund and a Vice President and Investment Officer with Doan Resources, a venture capital firm founded by Ted Doan, the former Chairman of Dow Chemical. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree, and from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business with an MBA.

Dick currently serves on the boards of directors of Blue Medical Supply, GHN-Online, Matrix Management Services, MolecularMD, KBI BioPharma and Advanced Processing & Imaging and previously served on the board of PDSHeart.

 

Glenn Neblett

Glenn joined Capital Southwest in 2010 as a Vice President. Previously, he served as Director in the corporate finance and financial sponsors groups at Houlihan Lokey, where he advised clients in mergers and acquisitions, private placements and restructurings. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baylor University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant.

 

Howard F. Auman, Jr.
Mr. Auman is an accomplished entrepreneur, owner of Southern Property Management LLC, Auman Productions LLC and Partner and Board member of Blue Highways Television Network. He builds, owns and manages commercial buildings and apartment complexes throughout central North Carolina. Previously, he served on the board of Triad Bank, the Board of Trustees of Randolph Community College and as President of the Asheboro Home builders Association. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 

Harrington Bischof
Mr. Bischof is co-founder and president of Pandora Capital Corp., a private investment company. He has thirty years of investment banking experience, including 11 years with White, Weld & Co., where he became Senior Vice President and head of its investment banking activities in the Midwest. Following the merger of White, Weld and Co. with Merrill Lynch & Co., he served on several Merrill Lynch Investment Banking management committees and as a Director of Merrill Lynch International Bank in London. Mr. Bischof later served as Senior Advisor to Prudential Securities, Inc. He is currently a Director of Peerless Industrial Group, Inc., Old Republic International Corporation (NYSE) and Utilities, Inc.

 

Barry D. Garfinkle, Ph.D.

Barry D. Garfinkle, Ph.D. has over 35 years’ experience in the biologics, vaccines and pharmaceutical industry. Most recently he was VP Biological Sciences & Strategy for Merck Sharp & Dohme Corporation. During his career he has worked in the areas of Quality, Technical Operations, and Manufacturing at the VP level, dealing with biologics, vaccines, sterile pharmaceuticals, and non-sterile oral dosage forms. His experience has involved late stage process development, process improvements and trouble shooting, and facility design or manufacturing biological products.

Dr. Garfinkle has been a member of the USP council of experts for over 15 years serving first on the microbiology committee and then being elected chair of the Vaccines and Virology committee. He has also worked jointly with USP and EP to achieve harmonization of several USP chapters.

Dr. Garfinkle has also served on the ISO working group 9 committee which established the first ISO aseptic guidelines, has provided training to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the areas of validation and microbiology, was a member of the Parenteral Drug Association, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, and was elected to “American Men of Science”. Barry has written several chapters on validation and sterilization (Remington) in pharmaceutical
textbooks and has authored or co-authored over two dozen publications. His areas of expertise include: pharmaceutical microbiology, GMPs, biotechnology and vaccine manufacturing and testing.

Barry is on the board of directors of KBI Biopharma as well as the Scientific Board for PBS Biotech. He is currently Principal of Barry Garfinkle & Associates Consulting, LLC.
